First Love is the vision of Pastor Peter Cropsey and his wife Dawn and is a place where you can come as you are to hear God’s message of hope and redemption through His Son Jesus Christ. Dawn thought of the name for the church and she explains, “Jesus wants to be and must be our First Love, so the vision of our church is to teach who Jesus is, what He did, where we are positionally because of that, and finally how we should respond in love, adoration, worship, and obedience. Taste and see that the Lord is good!”
Pastor Pete is a graduate of Calvary Chapel School of Ministry and holds to the doctrinal and theological positions of that movement. His teaching style is expository, verse by verse and yet it is colored with Pete’s sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic life experiences giving it an authentic flavor. It is both encouraging for the new believer and challenging for the seasoned saint.
Our worship leader Ray Darter hails from Kansas and came to California to be a part of what the Lord is doing at First Love. His worship style is polished and soulful and yet you cannot miss that his heart is devoted to leading people into the presence of God and preparing their hearts to receive the Word.
Children’s ministry is headed up by Joanie Oropeza who is a true Bible Scohlar but she believes God has called her to raise up our children in the way they should go so when they are grown they will not depart from it. She has had many years experience in children’s ministry at Calvary Chapel Capo Beach and is a huge blessing to our family of believers.
We believe First Love Church is a place where the weary can find rest and the reborn can find purpose. We are a hospital for sinners and not a museum for saints.

We meet Sunday morinings at 10am and Wednesday evenings at 7pm.
We are a group of people from literally all walks of life and at First Love everyone is made to feel at home.
